About the Founder
Cathy Lynn Rubin, PhD.
October 25 1956 – December 28, 2010
Cathy Rubin founded Rover Rescue in 2001. Dedicated to helping homeless dogs since 1994, she rescued and placed numerous dogs from Los Angeles animal shelters.
Cathy was instrumental in starting a volunteer program for the Los Angeles Animal Shelters and she served as Volunteer Coordinator for the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter. She helped create the very successful mobile pet adoption program which has placed thousands of dogs from the Los Angeles City Shelters. Cathy was named Volunteer of the Year by the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter and elected Volunteer of the Year by the Los Angeles City Mayor's office.
Cathy was deeply devoted to Rover Rescue and her wishes were for the organization to continue its work until every dog has a home. James Mackey will assume the position of Executive Director, and we will work tirelessly to keep Cathy's spirit alive as we continue the life-saving work of Rover Rescue.
